Ibuprofen (Brufen)

 Ibuprofen is a type of medicine known as a non steroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID).It is used to decrease swelling, pain or fever.

Available As- Tablets and liquid solutions.

Uses-It is used to relieve pain from headache, migraine, dental pain, menstrual cramps and arthritis.

It is also used to reduce fever.

How to use- As directed by the physician or pharmacist.

It is taken after or before meals orally with a glass of water.

Dosage-

Adults- 200mg-400 mg orally every 4-6 hours as needed.

Pediatric dosage-

4-10 mg/kg/dose   every 6-8 hours.

Maximum single dose- 400mg/dose

Maximum daily dose is 40 mg/kg/day- 1200 mg/day

Common tablet brands of Ibuprofen available in India-

Available in 200mg and 400 mg strengths.

Ibuprofen liquid suspension for children-

Available in 50mg/1.25mL and 100mg/5mL
